From loving magic to sharing joy with children

I first discovered magic in Primary 5.

Back then, magic wasn’t as common in Hong Kong as it is today. By chance I found a magic booth at an event and bought my first set of props. From that moment, magic became a hobby I never really put down.

Finding work I love through kids

   First encounter with magic — and my first set of props.

   Three years

   Worked at an integrated family service centre, meeting children of many ages and personalities every day, and running activities and interest classes.

One large programme had about 70 children per class, and some days meant six or seven classes. Those years built a lot of experience with kids — and I’m grateful to the social workers around me, who taught me so much about communicating with children.

Working with children is something that brings real joy.

If I already loved magic and loved being with kids, why not put the two together?

That’s how I began the path of children’s magic performance.

I care about more than the act on stage

These days, when I arrive at a birthday party, I care about more than the magic alone.

I watch whether the birthday child is truly engaged and happy, whether the other kids are involved, and I help parents keep the whole party flow smooth.

From magic and interactive games to cake cutting, the birthday song and a group photo —

hoping every moment connects naturally.

After parties, many parents tell me what they loved most was the atmosphere — not only kids having fun, but adults fully in it too.

And that’s why, after so many birthday parties, I still love this work.
